10th Grade Parent Night

Sophomore Parent Night will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 5:30 -7:00 pm in the Media Center.  We will address changes in standardized testing that could affect your child’s results with the new FCAT 2.0.  There will be a 20 minute podcast from the Department of Research and Evaluation Services followed by a question and answer session.  Child care will be provided for children K- 5th grade.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Waide at (727) 246-3161.

This Week and Next 2/20 - 3/3

On February 28th our 10th grade students will be taking the FCAT Writes.   Students must complete a written essay to a prompt given on the exam.  The essay should contain five paragraphs, transitions, proper grammar and spelling.  Students will need to focus on the topic and provide supports in their writing.  Students must make a 4 on a scale of 6 to be considered proficient.   It will be important for students to get plenty of rest and a nutritious breakfast.  We want our Shark students to do their very best.

Curriculum Fair Night

We will be hosting our annual Curriculum Fair, Monday, March 12th, beginning at 6:00 pm.  The evening is filled with information on curriculum, clubs, athletics and general information to help students be successful in high school.  Our guidance department will be presenting information on Honors, Dual Enrollment, AP courses, Bright Futures and College Readiness.  Information on clubs, athletics, and technology will be available in the media center. Students will be showcasing their schoolwork throughout all buildings.  Parents are encouraged to visit our CCTE programs and participate in hands on activities. All incoming 8th grade students and their parents are invited to begin the evening in the gymnasium for a brief introduction to high school.  We are looking forward to sharing our programs with parents and students.

FBLA Wins BIG at Districts!

It is with great elation that we announce that our inaugural chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at Anclote High School did an absolutely outstanding  job at District XI competition!  Fourteen of our seventeen students competed in various categories ranging from Business Calculations to Web Site Development.  Our students competed with fifteen other high schools from both Pasco and Hernando counties.

Cheerleaders Win Big!

The Anclote Shark Cheerleaders placed First in the Semi-Finals at the state level for the 1A Medium Varsity level.  Following Semi-Finals, the cheerleading team went on to place Third in the State Finals.  This is an outstanding achievement for Anclote High School.  The girls competed against numerous high performing teams.  Their spirit and athletic performances shined at the Florida High School Athletic Association event.  Coach Wichmanowski stated, "their hard work and efforts really paid off, this is a great team of girls who will go on to do great things!"

National Signing Day

On February 1st, Alonzo Pettiford "Zoe" signed with Fort Hays State in Kansas.  He is receiving a dual scholarship for football and track.  We are proud of his accomplishments.
